12-Year-Old Honors Student Suspended For Key Chain Fake Gun

From the files of insane political correctness comes another story of let's follow the letter of the law and punish people that are no threat and ignore the real problems. A 12-year-old honors student was suspended from Feinstein Middle School in Coventry, R.I. for three days for possessing a key chain shaped as a gun. The seventh-grader, Joseph Lyssikatos, who’s an honors student with perfect attendance last year, unfortunately let the two-inch long keychain fall out of his backpack on school property.

Another student picked up the key chain and waived it at other students, until a teacher stepped in and confiscated it. Lyssikatos was suspended and banned from the school’s upcoming field trip for violating the school’s no weapons policy even though the key chain was obviously not a weapon.

Lyssikatos’ parents are furious and they explained to school officials that their son bought the keychain for 25 tickets at a local arcade, and because it is a key chain for crying out loud, it poses no danger to him or any student or anyone else for that matter.

But bureaucratic school officials instead went by the letter of the law in their Serious Disciplinary Infractions as it states, “Possession/carrying/use of/threat of use of a firearm or replica shall result in a recommendation for expulsion for a period of time up to one full calendar year.”

Of course the pointy headed administrators at Feinstein Middle School refused to comments on the matter.

What do you think? Was the school wrong for suspending Joseph for 3 days?
