No pledge in Boston school for 9-11

During a commemoration for the 12th anniversary of 9/11 this past week a Boston area school made an odd and some are saying, unpatriotic decision. The school principle recited an Islamic poem over the loud speaker going to all classrooms, but did not say the pledge of allegiance.

The school’s principal only gave an apology after the parents of students and the community reacted with anger. The principal said they decided to read the poem in hopes help with cross-cultural understanding.

Principal Peter Badalament told the Washington Times that only a small number of parents were upset with what happened.

While many argue, as did school spokespersons, that it is important to understand other cultures, how can you leave out the pledge of allegiance on the anniversary of 9-11?
