Carney: Obama Drawing A Line On Debt Limit Negotiations (Because The Syria Red Line Worked So Good?)

Jay Carney Obama draws a line on debt limit

White House press secretary Jay Carney said President Obama will not negotiate on raising the debt limit until the government is reopened. He argued that doing otherwise would set an “irresponsible” precedent between the legislative and executive branches in future negotiations. He also accused the Republicans of "hostage taking" in their demands.

But isn't Obama taking the position of zero negotiations with the GOP equally a position of "hostage taking"?

When speaking of the debt limit negotiations at Thursday's White House press briefing, Press Secretary Jay Carney said, “The president is drawing a line here, we cannot do it. He will not do it.”

I wonder if that line Obama has drawn will hold as good as the red line on Syria did. What do you think?
