As Michelle Obama is going through the "emotional toll" of being America's fist black First Lady she is now speaking about some of the things making her feel that way. On of those things was a New Yorker Magazine cover of her and Barack back in 2008 where she was featured with an Afro and wearing a machine gun.

Questions on the First Lady's mind as she spoke recently giving the commencement address at Tuskegee University were, “Was I too loud or too angry or too emasculating? Or was I too soft, too much of a mom, not enough of a career woman?” and she found the picture of her with an Afro to be somewhat offensive although she did acknowledged it was satire.

However, when asked about the New Yorker cover, Ms Obama responded with, "It knocked me back a bit. It made me wonder just how are people seeing me.”

That's interesting since the New Yorker is not any friend to conservatives and is generally considered a liberal magazine, that Ms Obama is criticizing them when no other media outlet said anything about this particular cover for more than 6 years. We can only imagine if the New Yorker were a conservative publication. We would have seen calls for it to be shut down.

Here's the full cover as published back in July of 2008:
