New York City horse-drawn carriages to be banned

If you think the meddling, nanny state control of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was off the charts, wait till the uber-Socialist leanings of Mayor Elect Bill De Blasio take effect soon. You haven't seen anything yet. De Blasio campaigned on a platform of soaking the rich to pay for more services for the poor and to bridge the gap in income inequality and unfortunately there are much more serious consequences waiting in the wings.

Sure, that kind of "soak the rich" platform is appealing to the greedy who want more for doing less, but little do progressive voters realize with that kind of reform comes government control that no one likes. Oh, you mean that "control" thing wasn't listed on De Blasio's campaign website?

One of the first acts De Blasio is likely to implement is to ban horse-drawn carriages because they are, "inhumane." Yes, those same horse-drawn carriages that have been in NY City since probably the 1700's back when they were a primary form of transportation. The current horse-drawn carriage business has been in existence since the 1930's or 1940's.

De Blasio said in a press conference on Monday about these horse and buggy businesses, “They’re not humane, they’re not appropriate to the year 2014, it’s over. We are going to get rid of the horse carriages, period.”

So there you have a perfect example of the control freaks that are Progressives and Socialists. While promising voters all kinds of goodies so they can get elected, they are scheming monsters of power and corruption thinking they have ultimate say over the lives of the masses.

What the blind voters promised happiness because the rich will, "pay their fair share" didn't know is that the same freakish bent for control in the mind of a Progressive like De Blasio, also makes him think he has a right to end a legitimate business because it is, "not appropriate" according to his twisted dictates. It is only logical for someone who thinks they have some kind of right to redistribute other people's money, to also think they can destroy any business they don't like.

Attention NY City voters, what did you think you were going to get?

Call it "inhumane" or call it a "national emergency" it's really not that far from ending a 200 year old way of life, to nationalizing a steel mill or an oil company like Venezuela has done. The ignorance of New York City voters have given us a road we really don't want to go down.

Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio vowed to act quickly to abolish horse-drawn carriages in the city.

“We are going to get rid of the horse carriages. Period,” de Blasio said in response to a question at his press conference announcing his schools chancellor pick Monday.

“It’s over,” he said.

De Blasio said he would work with existing drivers to set them up with alternative vehicles to ferry tourists around Central Park.

De Blasio and advocacy groups who support him say it’s inhumane to make the horses work the dangerous city streets, but drivers insist their horses are well cared for and there’s no reason to end the industry.
