No White House Tours Due To Budget Cuts – But Wait, Tours Are Done By VOLUNTEERS!

White House Tours done by volunteers

If you call the White House and want to schedule a tour of what Michelle Obama has called "the People's House", you will get a message stating that due to the recent sequester all White House tours will be cancelled after March 9th during spring break, which of course is one of the busiest times of the year when visitors come to Washington DC.

The message says:

"Thank you for calling the White House Visitor's Office 24 hours information line. Due to staffing reductions resulting from sequestration, we regret to inform that White House tours will be cancelled effective Saturday March 9, 2013. We very much regret we have to take this action particularly during the spring touring season."

So, there you go. Because of the big bad budget cuts, which won't prevent the President from flying around the nation spreading propaganda or going on any of his many golfing outings, White House tours are discontinued until further notice. The only problem with that is, White House tours are done by volunteers. Can you say hypocrisy!

This is just one more example of President Obama creating a hardship where there is none. He is using the sequestration budget cuts for nothing more than to take advantage of a situation, to stir up bad feelings about government having less money to spend and to place blame on Republicans. Of all the things to cut, President Obama makes a public show of closing the White House to visitors when there is absolutely no need to. Will he take less golfing vacations? Will he fly Air Force One around the country any less? Will he and Michelle make less of a public spectacle of how much money they can spend? No, no and no!
