Obama - Days of big military is over

On Monday President Obama said in a speech to 3,000 at New Jersey's Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, where many deployments were launched to Afghanistan, "This month America's war in Afghanistan will come to a responsible end," Obama then went on to say, "The time of deploying large ground forces with big military footprints to engage in nation building overseas, that's coming to an end."

Of course this brings two things to mind when our inexperienced commander makes statements such as these. First, the president sounds pretty assured of himself when he says the war will come to a "responsible end." Oh, does he mean like it did so in Iraq where ISIS owns half the country? And I guess the Taliban is not attacking bases in Afghanistan and schools in Pakistan any longer?

And secondly, to his, "The time of deploying large ground forces with big military footprints" rhetoric, as if he has one iota of experience even knowing what to do with a military as opposed to organizing groups of agitators on the streets of Chicago. Maybe we could look at what Russia is doing to the Ukraine and what China is doing building their navy and missile technology to figure out whether we still need a robust and large military.

I'm sure our battle hardened, and well seasoned military commanders must cringe every time this Chicago street thug walks into a high level military meeting and offers his utterly unqualified opinion.
