Obama’s New Executive Actions to Reduce Gun Violence Statement Is Classic Propaganda

Obama Executive Orders

Unfortunately in the political climate we live in today, nothing said by our current President, and I mean nothing, can be trusted. Almost always there is illusion and propaganda behind what he says or official statements coming from the White House. For instance, Obama just announced new executive orders "to reduce gun violence" in a statement and that is about a classic a piece of propaganda as you could expect from those bent on hiding the real truth. The statement is set up to create an illusion of something that simply is not true.

Let's have a look at the, "FACT SHEET: New Executive Actions to Reduce Gun Violence" which can be found on the White House website here and parse it to see what an utter fabrication most of it is.

The first misleading statement is in the title that this is a FACT SHEET. It is not. It is a statement released by the White House to obfuscate the real problems with guns (which is non-enforcement of current laws) and to move us just one step closer to Obama's agenda of further eroding the 2nd Amendment. While there may be some tidbits of truth in the statement, most of the so-called "facts" are either grossly misleading or outright lies. Lets look at a few of those facts...

The statement opens with: "Today, the Obama administration announced two new common-sense executive actions to keep the most dangerous firearms out of the wrong hands and ban almost all re-imports of military surplus firearms to private entities."

Just the set up of this statement is misleading in that there is anything "common-sense" about these executive orders. The White House is trying to manipulate the public into thinking that all they want to do is make the country a better place for the people. After all, who can argue with "common sense," right?

Next, the statement goes on to say: "Even as Congress fails to act on common-sense proposals, like expanding criminal background checks and making gun trafficking a federal crime, the President and Vice President remain committed to using all the tools in their power to make progress toward reducing gun violence."

No, actually Congress did not fail to act. What they did was overwhelmingly reject the piece of junk gun control legislation you and your gun-grabbing cronies put together. In acting to vote against the horrendous bill, patriotic members of congress also rejected all the false, misleading, slanderous and downright traitorous marketing that went into trying to get this bill to pass. I'm glad Congress acted the way they did and told President Obama, no, this legislation will not pass! Congress did exactly as they were supposed to do which of course resulted in a major league hissy fit by the President.

The second part of this paragraph that is misleading is that gun trafficking was not made a federal crime. That is of zero consequence because gun trafficking is already a crime in every state in the nation. I don't know the exact statute on "gun trafficking," but making a straw purchase with the express purpose of selling a gun to someone who can't own a gun legally, is a federal crime. There is no problem here with gun trafficking. That is already illegal and it is grossly misleading for the President to make you think it is not. This statement curiously doesn't even define what gun trafficking is. I wonder if Obama considers the federal participation in Fast and Furious that killed our border agents and hundreds of Mexican citizens as "gun trafficking?"

Next we have: "Current law places special restrictions on many of the most dangerous weapons, such as machine guns and short-barreled shotguns.  These weapons must be registered, and in order to lawfully possess them, a prospective buyer must undergo a fingerprint-based background check."

Wrong and misleading again from the White House. This one even goes into the realm of pure propaganda because it makes you think you can get a "machine gun" by getting nothing more than a fingerprint background check. That is so obscenely untrue there should be a crime against such statements. To obtain a rapid fire machine gun in the United States is monumentally difficult. An individual must go through an extensive criminal background check, must register their firearm with the ATF. You cannot own a machine gun manufactured after May 19, 1986 and if you buy one manufactured before that date you must get prior approval from the ATF to even register and transfer it. And you also have to pay a $200 transfer fee to the ATF.

Oh, and one more point. This process is so cumbersome and real machine guns, not the rifles the idiot Mayor Bloomberg thinks are machine guns, but real ones, are exceptionally rare and exceedingly expensive. Be prepared to pay anywhere from $5,000 up to $40,000 to $50,000 for a good quality machine gun. And yes, there is still one more minor point, you must have the signature of the Chief Law Enforcement officer that has jurisdiction over the municipality in which you live to own one.

The statement above on Obama's executive order is complete BS. It is no easy task to obtain a machine gun, probably one a convicted felon isn't going to go through because they would never pass it!

Next, to add on to the obfuscation in this propaganda statement, it goes on to say: "However, felons, domestic abusers, and others prohibited from having guns can easily evade the required background check and gain access to machine guns or other particularly dangerous weapons by registering the weapon to a trust or corporation."

How much more of a liar can Barack Obama be? If felons and abusers are prohibited from possessing these guns, then they are prohibited from possessing these guns. In fact, anyone a machine gun is not registered to is prohibited from possessing it, not just felons. Why does the president need to mislead us into thinking his silly executive order will make any difference and then flat out lie about how a machine gun is legally acquired and who can posses one?

And how much are fully automatic machine guns used in homicides? Their use is almost non-existent. From 1934 to the present there have been only 2 murders that involved legally owned machine guns. And as far as illegal machine gun stats go, in 1980 in Miami, the "machine gun mecca" of the United States, less than 1% of homicides involved these weapons. And of several instances of guns seized from major cities over several years, only 16 turned out to be fully automatic weapons.

The statement is further misleading because it goes on to say that felons and abusers can, "gain access to machine guns or other particularly dangerous weapons by registering the weapon to a trust or corporation." Well no, they can't. Any gun trust must still posses a Class III Federal Firearms License and any gun within that trust must also be registered with the ATF. Guns in the trust may only be used by members of the trust or those they are with a the time of usage. Felons are not walking into a gun trust and walking out with machine guns. That just isn't happening.

One must ask why the president would willfully and purposely mislead and lie to the American people about his executive orders. Why is it necessary for Barack Obama to mislead Americans about machine guns. Why is the public knowingly being mislead by politicians like the President constantly blurring the lines between what an automatic and a semi-automatic weapon is?

Once again Barack Obama is caught in a malicious lie. How can anyone trust this man?
