According to a statement issued on Saturday by the US embassy in Doha, Qatar the evidence Syrian President Assad and his troops used chemical weapons on civilians are 100, "publicly available videos," meaning from YouTube, that show signs, "consistent with, but not unique to, nerve agent exposure." In assessing the videos their authenticity is based on the flimsy believe that the Syrian opposition could not have faked them.
Now, whether or not this is the only evidence Barack Obama has for launching a military strike against Assad, and it probably isn't, it is an embarrassment to even put this report out there from a US Embassy that even suggests we are basing this attack on "publicly available videos."
It seems ironic that as much as liberals berated George W Bush for going into Iraq for chemical weapons that Democrats said were there before Bush was president, that Obama would continue doing almost exactly as Bush did, yet we are not hearing nearly the outcry as we did back in the days of Iraq. And how are we to make this situation right with a few million dollar cruise missiles when we hardly understand who the players are in this mess?
Does Obama want to attack Syria because Syria attacked Syria or does he want to attack Syria to support Al Qaeda? If we assist the rebels by taking out Assad then we have a huge Al Qaeda threat to worry about. If Obama is worried about what Assad supposedly did with chemical weapons, what does he think will happen when a terrorists organization gets a hold of them?
And here we are basing World War III on 100 YouTube videos. Yes, I totally trust our Commander in Chief.
Below is the government’s assessment of the “Syrian Government’s Use of Chemical Weapons on August 21, 2013.” It is exactly as expected, putting the full blame on Assad.
What however is absolutely mindblowing is the following:
“We have identified one hundred videos attributed to the attack, many of which show large numbers of bodies exhibiting physical signs consistent with, but not unique to, nerve agent exposure. The reported symptoms of victims included unconsciousness, foaming from the nose and mouth, constricted pupils, rapid heartbeat, and difficulty breathing. Several of the videos show what appear to be numerous fatalities with no visible injuries, which is consistent with death from chemical weapons, and inconsistent with death from small-arms, high-explosive munitions or blister agents. At least 12 locations are portrayed in the publicly available videos, and a sampling of those videos confirmed that some were shot at the general times and locations described in the footage. We assess the Syrian opposition does not have the capability to fabricate all of the videos, physical symptoms verified by medical personnel and NGOs, and other information associated with this chemical attack.”
In other words, America may be about to launch World War III on the basis of one hundred videos, which it believes "the Syrian opposition does not have the capability to fabricate."
God help us all.
