Obama Files His 747 to Chicago

Has one single Congressperson or Senator in Congress asked if President Obama could maybe save a little money by getting a smaller plane or taking a few less support vehicles instead of jet setting around the nation and the world as he does in a giant 747 at a cost of nearly $182,000 per hour? While Obama has the most expensive to fly plane for a head of state anywhere in the world and those costs increase significantly when you add in the Secret Service and additional transportation expenses, he does absolutely nothing to even give the impression he is interested in saving fuel, energy and money. President acts as if the money he spends acting like a king, at the expense of a king, all belongs to him.

Because Obama and his wife Michelle don't seem to give a second thought as to who the money they spend by the millions on a daily basis belongs to, the President most certainly won't see the hypocrisy in flying one of the largest jets in the world the 600 miles from Washington DC to Chicago to give his weekly address, this time about saving energy and reducing fuel costs. Mr Obama's speech in Chicago consisted of 628 words and last all of about 10 minutes.

So get that, President Obama spends about 6 hours round trip flying Air Force One at a total cost of approximately $1.09 million to give a 10 minute speech, with all kinds of sound bites we have already heard hundreds, if not thousands of times before about energy that had such classic lines as:

"Over the past four years, as part of our all-of-the-above energy strategy, we’ve taken steps to soften that blow by making sure our cars use less gas.  We’ve put in place the toughest fuel economy standards in our history so that by the middle of the next decade, our cars will go twice as far on a gallon of gas.  Over the life of a new car, the average family will save more than $8,000 at the pump. "

Well, that $8,000 the average family may save on gas costs over the life of a car is a significant amount of money to the family, but flying Air Force One eats up that much cost in just under 3 minutes.

Isn't it interesting that Obama lectures Americans endlessly about being good stewards with our resources, "making the rich pay their fair share" and asking them to contribute a little more to reduce the deficit, but when he could show a little understanding of the problems we face, when he has the opportunity to show a little fiscal restraint, he doesn't even attempt to fake it.

Why does President Obama constantly ask the rich to pay more, but he is never asked that question as to why he doesn't contribute more by reducing his costs. In fact, if it a member of the press even mentions or inquires about the costs of the President's golf outings, Press Secretary Jay Carney goes off on them.

Is there anyone in this Obama White House that is not a complete and utter hypocrite?
