Rep Charles Rangel Claims ‘Millions Of Kids’ Being Shot By Assault Weapons

Crook Congressman Charlie Rangel

Liberals are just allowed to say anything, absolutely anything to try and push their ridiculous Constitution destroying, gun grabbing agenda and no one in the main stream media even questions them these days. While being interviewed on MSNBC this morning, Congressman Charles Rangel was asked his opinion on what he thought about the assault weapons ban being dropped from Senate bill and he came out with the most ridiculous statistic and quote imaginable. And to further to pit off, the reporter doing the interview said absolutely nothing or asked him to verify his assertion.

Rangel blamed the defeat of the Feinstein Assault Weapons Ban on the money put into the fight by the NRA and then he made this absurd and woefully wrong statement:

I’m ashamed to admit it but its politics and its money, The NRA has taken this position, there is no reason, there is no foundation. There is no hunter that needs automatic military weapons to enjoy the culture of going hunting.

And later he said:

We're talking about millions of kids dying — being shot down by assault weapons, were talking about handguns easier in the inner cities, to get these guns in the inner cities, than to get computers. This is not just a political issue, it’s a moral issue and so when we condemn the NRA we should not ignore the fact that a lot of people that have taken moral positions have been solid on this big one.

Here we have a United States Representative that apparently doesn't even know what an assault weapons is or what the law on automatic weapons is. Automatic military weapons are illegal. Nor does Rangel even come remotely close in his statistic about millions of kids dying because of assault weapons. The total number of gun or firearm related homicides in 2011 was 8,583 and roughly 300 of them were with so-called assault weapons. Even if you go with 1 million and not the "millions" Rangel wants you to believe, that would equate to 112 years of total gun homicides in the US and that doesn't even single out just assault weapons.
