Air Force One is Obama personal toy

One Republican Congressman has finally had enough of the Obama's and their vacations and is speaking out about it. Rep. Howard Coble of North Carolina said that at almost $180,000 per hour (depending on who you talk to) with all their jet setting around the globe, the Obama's are using Air Force One, "as their personal toy."

There are liberals who say Bush traveled extensively and was on vacation more than Obama, but much of the travel and vacation Bush went on was to his own Ranch in Texas costing significantly less than 5 star hotels and expensive mansions the Obama's stay in. Additionally over the years, Presidential entourages  have grown to gargantuan sizes as well as the additional expenses of getting the most protected head of state in world history from point A to point B. Advanced teams, plus tankers and transports for limousines and security bring presidential travel to an obscene level.

As much as the president talks about rich people not paying their fair share and wallowing in the benefits of wealth, we have not seen the slightest indication that Obama has cut the expenses of his administration and his vacationing any. While many people in today's economy can't afford to take a vacation at all, the Obama's take lavish vacations only the wealthy elite can afford.

Don't expect that to end anytime soon. After all, it isn't costing the President anything.

Rep. Howard Coble (R-N.C.) said Thursday morning that President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama are using Air Force One and other official aircraft as their "personal toys."

"I'm not suggesting ... that we compromise safety or security," Coble said on the House floor. "But the first family, it seems to me, treats Air Force One and related aircraft as their personal toys — a very expensive toy, I might add."

Coble's comments drew a warning from presiding officer Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-Calif.) not to make improper references to the President.

"I will admit ... that Air Force One belongs to President Obama and his wife, but Air Force One also belongs to you and me, and to every taxpayer in America," Coble continued. "I simply ask the president and his wife to exercise more prudence and discipline regarding their aircraft activities.

"When the wheels of Air Force One are up, the meter is on, and I'm talking about a heap of taxpayer dollars."

Coble said the latest estimates put the operation of Air Force One at $179,000 per hour, and said recent overseas trips by the Obamas have involved other costs, like backup planes, motor transport, security, various staffers, hotel charges and advance security teams.

Coble said Obama was the second most-traveled president of all time during his first term, and that in 2009, Obama traveled more than any other president.
