RINO John McCain Says State ‘Stand Your Ground’ Laws Need Review, Plays Right Into Liberal’s Hands

John McCain stand your ground laws

I'm beginning to think Senator John McCain is actually a closet Democrat, either that or the liberals are just playing the man for an absolute fool, or maybe both. On CNN's Sunday talk show, State Of The Union, McCain said that Stand Your Ground Laws in several states need to be reviewed in light of the George Zimmerman not guilty verdict and racial profiling.

With that kind of nonsense McCain is playing right into the hands of liberal democrats who want to ignore the facts of what really happened in the Zimmerman case because they want to rewrite history and exploit this tragedy for their own purposes.

This case was not about the Florida Stand Your Ground Law. It was not used as a defense the case because Trayvon Martin jumped out of the bushes and attacked George Zimmerman and was punching him in the face and smashing his head into the concrete sidewalk. Florida Stand Your Ground law or not, anyone has the right to defend themselves from an unprovoked attack and to use deadly force when their life is being threatened.

Zimmerman was a neighborhood watchman and he had the right to find out why someone he did not know was meandering through his neighborhood late a night. He also was not told by the police to not follow Trayvon as many are trying to claim. He was told by a dispatcher not to do so and a dispatcher is not a police officer and does not carry the same authority. Zimmerman also did not racially profile Martin as was proved in the trial. He was following him because he did not recognize him as belonging in the neighborhood. It is not profiling to look at someone and think to yourself, 'hey, that guy doesn't belong here.'

President Obama, media pundits, politicians and race baiters like Al Sharpton are turning this tragedy into a cause and are ignoring the real facts of what happened in the trial and John McCain is simply going along with the crowd when he is saying lawfully enacted gun legislation needs to be reviewed.

Frankly, the more John McCain opens his mouth, it gets harder and harder to believe the Republican party really had the audacity to put him up as a serious conservative candidate for President of the United States.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday urged states to review their "stand your ground" laws amid a widening debate over the Trayvon Martin verdict and racial profiling.

About two dozen states have laws that allow individuals to act in self defense during a conflict without attempting to retreat, including Arizona. A Florida jury's acquittal of George Zimmerman in Martin's killing has renewed debate over those statutes.

McCain said he "trusts the judgment" of the jury that acquitted Zimmerman, but said that "stand your ground" rules need a second look.

"I am confident that the members of the Arizona legislature will [review] this very controversial legislation," McCain said on CNN's "State of the Union."

Protests are scheduled around the country this weekend as supporters of Martin's family cope with the verdict.

Demonstrators are also urging the Justice Department to mount a federal civil rights case against Zimmerman, an outcome that experts say is unlikely.

McCain said he and others were "probably too optimistic" that racial prejudices would lessen after President Obama's election in 2008.

"Old prejudices die hard, especially in hard economic times," McCain said. "We've got a long way to go."
