Why Is Facebook Banning Advertising Accounts Of Small and Medium Business Owners?

Facebook advertising

If you are a small or medium business owner, you can basically forget Facebook advertising for the foreseeable future in this mishmash of a huge monopoly access to the billion and a half people Facebook has conned into supporting their little game.

I started hearing about lots of people getting their Facebook advertising accounts banned about 18 months ago and mistakenly thought, I don't have anything to worry about, I'm not doing anything wrong. Seriously, why would Facebook ban you from advertising on their platform if you are spending a good chunk of change every month?

We were wrong that Facebook wouldn't ban you for not doing anything wrong and as of December 30, 2014, I no longer have access to the largest advertising platform on Earth and NO ONE at Facebook is willing to tell me why. Any inquiry sent into the monolithic data crunching kingdom Facebook now rules is met with little more than canned answers as they continue to purge themselves of thousands of mid-level advertisers.

My Facebook advertising account received what turned out to be a false warning (if you can call it that) on December 2, 2014 and we inquired about it only to be told TWICE there were NO VIOLATIONS in my account. In light of my Facebook ads account being banned, it is absolutely unbelievable that I was told on two separate occasions, in the same month my account was deactivated, by two separate ad account experts, there were absolutely no violations of any kind.

So what exactly is going on here? Did that mean the previous email I received stating my account had a violation was an error? You would think so, but no one knows and no one at Facebook could tell me where that email originated even though I inquired twice as to by who and why that email was sent. The only thing they told me as of December 2nd was again, there were no violations in my account, but only 28 days later the hammer came down and I was banned from ever using Facebook ads again. That's it, end of story!

We have spent between $2,000 and $5,000 a month for a total of nearly $60,000 on Facebook advertising over the last 2 years building our Facebook Pages and advertising various products such as counseling forms, T-Shirts and more and this is the way they treat advertisers at our level. My theory is Facebook is jammed with advertisers, many who have no clue as to what they are doing (Big revenue, but it seriously fills up the newsfeed) and Facebook just wants to deal with the multi-million dollar per month spenders. However, this strategy may backfire on them someday as our newsfeeds get filled with exceptionally boring advertising. Will Facebook turn out to be just another social media relic 3 to 5 years down the road like MySpace has become?

Sure, you may still be able to use your Facebook advertising account into the somewhat limited future, but Facebook has to play to the big interests since they are a public company now. As is always the case, Facebook, just like Google, was built by the little guy. We have spent thousands to tens of thousands of dollars trying to build our brands and reach our audience, but the corporate giants then tire of us as the gadzillionaire spenders start coming around.

Facebook is up to something and it's hard to tell how it will all work out. You have been warned.
