Sen. John McCain of Arizona is trying his hardest to make himself completely irrelevant in the Republican party. And maybe he's trying to make the entire Republican party irrelevant as well. Apparently it was not enough that he and Senator Lindsey Graham came out yesterday and criticized Rand Paul's filibuster of incoming CIA Director John O. Brennan over President Obama's drone strike policy. In an interview with the Huffington Post, McCain referred to Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan as “wackos.”

And McCain added more, saying “But I also think that when, you know, it’s always the wacko birds on right and left that get the media megaphone. I think it can be harmful if there is a belief among the American people that those people are reflective of the views of the majority of Republicans. They're not,"

When asked by the Huffington post to clarify, Senator McCain said he was referencing ”Rand Paul, Cruz, Amash, whoever.”

McCain and Sen. Lindsey Graham voiced their strong opposition to the filibuster saying that they support the possible use of drones to prevent terrorist attacks anywhere in the world. Other Republicans than these two RINOs are somewhat worried that this high-profile stand by senior members of the party, while getting lots of attention, will ultimately be a black mark for the GOP. We would certainly agree with that since the old Republican guard is on its way out and legislators like these two dinosaurs are the real cause of a mostly disinterested voter base.

If John McCain were to act more like Rand Paul and stand on principle, maybe we wouldn't even know who Barack Obama is right now. What do you think?
